I got the opportunity to meet Lara Casey, the editor from Southern Weddings this year while I was in vegas for WPPI.  She is such an amazing person and is doing great things with Southern Weddings!  It's an impressive resource for brides to find tons of ideas and details for their wedding, definitely check it out.  Anyway, I emailed her a few weeks ago about Jahnavi and Jonathan's wedding because I thought it was very unique.  Well apparently they thought so too because they featured the wedding on their blog!  You can see the feature here.  Special thanks to Lara and all the ladies at SW!

It's finally here!  I bought a new online shopping cart a few weeks ago from Pick Pic for my clients and it's awesome!  I'm still in the transition of uploading all of my old galleries to this new cart but it should be done soon.  Because of this I'll be taking a break from blogging this week ;(

Seriously, Pick Pic is going to make my life just a little easier for me and my clients.  It's very simple to navigate through and has a lot of cool features.  I love everything that I've seen so far...my only complaint is that I didn't switch over to it sooner!  Everything should be up and running by this weekend...can't wait!

Oh yeah, and I'm close to closing a lease on a studio this week.  Very exciting time right now.  Here's a sneak peak from my wedding last weekend.  Blog post to come next week.

6/25/09 Edited to add*** The new client proofing software is now live on my website.  Click here to view your proofs.  I'm still slowly uploading my past weddings and portrait galleries to the site so if you don't see your and need to order pictures soon just send me an email.  Thanks!

I was introduced to Cypress Albums last year by Jose Villa when I attended his workshop in Mexico.  I've been meaning to get a sample album into my studio ever since and I've finally gotten around to it!  They're awesome...very modern, chic and clean.  I think this style book complements the types of images I like to take and I'm pumped that I'm offering this to my clients now!

This is an 8x8 Iris Engagement Sign-In Book.  Lots of clients get sign-in books for the guest to sign at the reception and its a really cool way to show off your engagement photos!

Some of you may have noticed that things look a little different around here.  Well for the most part of last year, I was re-branding myself!  My old logo was ok for the time but I really wanted something that reflected who I was as an artist and as a business.

Ryan Hunley of Second Street Creative is the mastermind behind the new "Akil Bennett Photograher" brand.  Ryan is one the most creative and "patient" people I know. We must have gone through at least 6 rounds of changes to get to the brand that you see now and I couldn't be happier.  Call Him!  He'll go through the whole process with you from creating the logo to getting your final product (business cards, promo materials etc.)

My buddy Fred Egan is the one who hooked me up with Zida from Studio Z.  Zida does letterpress printing out of California and does amazing work!  These cards may be one of the best investments I made for my business last year.  Seriously, you should see the look on peoples faces when I hand them one of these cards...they're money! She also created Thank You Notes, Envelopes, and Mailing Labels for me as well.  Also brides, her wedding invitations are unlike anything I've ever seen before!  Give her a call, you know you want to!
